Install Cuisson on Mac
Cuisson for Mac works on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It comes as a .dmg installer: a window that holds the app until you copy it into your Applications folder. That copy step matters. Cuisson can only install its own updates once it lives in Applications.
1. Download Cuisson
- Open the Cuisson Releases page.
- Choose Download for Mac.
- Wait for the download to finish. The file name ends in universal.dmg.
2. Drag Cuisson into Applications
- Open your Downloads folder and double-click the Cuisson .dmg file.
- A window opens showing Cuisson and an Applications folder, with an arrow between them.
- Drag Cuisson onto the Applications folder and let go.
- If your Mac asks whether to replace an older Cuisson, choose Replace. Your kitchen is stored separately and is not affected.
Don’t double-click Cuisson in the installer window. It will open, but it is running from the installer, and it can’t install updates from there.
3. Open Cuisson from Applications
- Open Finder and choose Applications in the sidebar, or press Shift-Command-A.
- Double-click Cuisson.
- To keep it in the Dock, right-click its Dock icon while it is open and choose Options → Keep in Dock.
Once Cuisson opens from Applications, you can eject the installer: click the eject button beside Cuisson in the Finder sidebar. You can then delete the .dmg file from Downloads.
The first time you open a new download, macOS may ask whether you’re sure you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Cuisson is signed and checked by Apple, so choose Open.
If this is your first install, carry on with Install and activate Cuisson to enter your beta code.
Updates
When a new version is out, Cuisson shows Update available at the top of the window. Choose Install, wait for it to download, then choose Restart now.
If Cuisson says Cuisson is running from its installer, or Move Cuisson into your Applications folder, it was opened from somewhere it can’t update itself:
- Quit Cuisson.
- Download the latest version from the Releases page and drag it into Applications, as in step 2. Choose Replace if asked.
- Open Cuisson from Applications. Future updates will install from inside the app.
If something goes wrong
An update keeps failing
Cuisson is almost always running from the installer window or the Downloads folder. Follow the three steps under Updates above. Your recipes, ingredients and settings stay where they are.
I can’t find Cuisson after installing
Open Finder → Applications. If it isn’t there, it was opened from the installer and never copied: open the .dmg again and drag Cuisson onto Applications.
There are two Cuissons in the Dock or Launchpad
One of them is the installer copy. Eject the installer from the Finder sidebar, then open Cuisson from Applications.
