Getting Started · Setup
Install and activate Cuisson
Before you start
You’ll need:
- A Mac. The upcoming universal DMG will support both older Intel Macs (pre-M1 models) and Macs with Apple silicon.
- Your beta approval email, containing your beta licence code.
- An internet connection to download the app.
Beta applications are reviewed individually. Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an email titled You’re in — Cuisson private beta, sent by Kitchen Docs. Your code is under Your beta licence.

1. Download Cuisson
- Open the Cuisson Releases page.
- Choose Download latest DMG.
- Wait for the download to finish.
2. Install the app
- Open your Mac’s Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded .dmg file.
- In the window that opens, drag Cuisson into Applications.
- Open Applications in Finder and double-click Cuisson.
Once Cuisson has been copied to Applications, you can eject the installer disk.
For more about installing downloaded apps, see Apple’s installation guide.
3. Enter your beta code
- Copy the complete code from Your beta licence in your invitation email.
- Paste it into the Beta code field in Cuisson.
- Choose Continue, or press Enter.
Copy the whole code, including its beginning, any separators, and the characters at the end. Pasting is easier than typing it by hand.
Cuisson checks the code on your Mac and remembers it once accepted. You should not need to enter it every time you open the app.

4. Start your kitchen
If you see Welcome to Cuisson, choose Start a new kitchen to begin. If you already have a Cuisson backup, choose Restore from a backup instead and follow the restore instructions.

If Cuisson opens directly into your kitchen, you’re ready to begin.
Start with Ingredients: add a few ingredients and their supplier prices before building your first recipe.
If something goes wrong
I can’t find my invitation or code
Search your inbox and junk folder for Cuisson private beta or beta@kitchendocs.co.uk. If your application has been approved but the email is missing, email beta@kitchendocs.co.uk to request a resend. Include the email address you used to apply.
The code is incomplete or isn’t accepted
Copy it again directly from the approval email and paste the whole code into Beta code. If it is still refused, email beta@kitchendocs.co.uk with the message shown and the email address you used to apply.
The code needs a newer version of Cuisson
Download and install the latest version from the Releases page, then try the code again.
My beta access has ended
Email beta@kitchendocs.co.uk to ask about renewing your beta access. Include the email address you used to apply. Your kitchen data stays on your Mac when access ends.
Paste the replacement into Beta code, then choose Continue to carry on with your existing kitchen.
The download or app won’t open
Try downloading the latest DMG again from the Releases page. Check that you’ve copied Cuisson into Applications and are opening that copy.
If it still won’t open, email beta@kitchendocs.co.uk with the exact message or a screenshot.
I’m still stuck
You can use Send feedback from the activation screen, even if your beta code has expired. Sending requires an internet connection.
You can also email beta@kitchendocs.co.uk. Include what you were trying to do and the exact message you saw.
